Production

I’ve had a lovely, productive day ๐Ÿ’–
Not quite as much done as I’d thought I would have.
But I’m satisfied with my day.

I’ve heard that the creative mind is a messy mind, which spills out into its environment.
I’m not sure that’s really true…
I’ve peeked into artists’ studios, either in person, or in a book.
Some are swirling tornadoes of paper, tools, and other bits’n’bobs.
Others are pristine clean, everything in its place.

I’m probably somewhere between…
Here’s my Art Room.

I was sorting through papers.
Listening to music.
Making preliminary sketches for a variety of ideas.
Reading inspiring books.
Taking snapshots of the things that stood out to me.

And, really – is it that untidy?

Well – yes, actually ๐Ÿ˜‚
But at least I’m pretty sure I could find whatever I’m looking for in the teetering pile of stuff!

Each day has the possibility of producing beauty, and joy.
Roll on morning – another chance to have a Really Good Day โค
And who knows? Maybe I’ll even finish something ๐Ÿ˜€

I will finish this evening with a strangely soothing symphony…

Pummelled

Well – not quite…
Just felt like it!

The other day I went to my physio appointment.
Usually the soft tissue mobilisations (I think that’s what they’re called?) are some form of painful, but I can still function OK the next day.
This time was easily the worst pain I’ve had, although I can see it was necessary – I must have moved wrong, or picked up something without proper technique at some point, because everything was just…not right ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
I didn’t sleep well after, and didn’t bounce back the next day as usual.
Mostly, I just felt like someone had been whacking me with a blunt object ๐Ÿ˜†

Planning on getting stuff done tomorrow, though.
Yay! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some little bright spots I captured over the week (and a bit)

Originally placed on slice of cheesecake ๐Ÿ™‚

This was just after my physio appointment – the shopping centre had a mural competition for their car park.
I’ll have to have a closer look next time.

Lots of curls!
I picked up the feather somewhere, but it had been hanging around in the car for a while.
Now it’s living in my random still life ๐Ÿ˜€

And because the days are suddenly colder…

The Things We Do For Weird

A while back, for a few years, I did a scavenger hunt for a week each August.
That’s gone, now.
Much missed ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
But I found something similar – not as big, but consisting of weird items to be completed during the week.
I will do a post next week of my items – just know that I’ve spent the afternoon sculpting with scone dough, and filming a random food video…
Tomorrow will involve a garden troll ๐Ÿ™‚

As I can’t yet show you what I’m doing, I will share some tiny flowers on our garden fence.

They are much tinier than they appear here!

To The Heart

…of the city!
We went to a multicultural festival in the centre of our city this morning.
Couldn’t stay too long, but got to see some great dancing, and browsed the stalls.
It would have been nice to set up some chairs and settle in for a bit. Hopefully there’ll be another one next year!

I picked up a late breakfast from a Portuguese food stall.

It was labelled as “Coconut Delice”, although I can’t find a match in Google.
Quite hearty. ๐Ÿ˜€
And no – I couldn’t finish that in one sitting. There’s a bit leftover for tomorrow.

I spent the rest of the day reading, mostly finishing a book extolling the benefits of recognising ordinary joys.
Cutting down on social media.
Enjoying what you have, rather than what you could get.
Living life, rather than just being busy.
Or curating your public face for Instagram.
Being content with an ageing body…

On that note – random selfie!

Me. Unfiltered.
Wrinkles.
Grey hair.
Patchy skin.
Slightly unfocused… ๐Ÿ˜†

But happy!

Sleeping Lions

It’s been a good day, but I’m tired…
Got some work done.
Did some stuff.
Another fun day tomorrow!

Instead of my riveting monologue, you can enjoy listening to one of the bassiest basses you will ever hear!

(you may need to click through to hear some of his other stuff)
Also – watch to the end for a bonus good boy lion.

An Oddie, But A Goodie

Sorry about the pun.
Although it might possibly have been appreciated by its subject.

Another part of my childhood gone –
Bill Oddie – comedian, conservationist, birdwatcher, and one third of the Goodies has died.

๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I remember The Goodies being on at the same time as the news, so we didn’t always get to watch it.
But – once seen, hard to forget.
I think a lot of people around my age would remember giant kittens and ecky thump ๐Ÿ˜€

Just for a laugh…

Leave it to them to make a crossover between Star Wars and Doctor Who!

Just These Three

It’s been a full week.
Fun!
But tiring…
So, in lieu of deep and thought provoking commentary, I thought I’d share one photo (that I’ve taken, but not used here) from each of the last three months.

A bit of sunshine on a cosy corner.
Also – one of the few leather sofas I’ve found to be comfortable.
Just don’t put your feet on it!

A big glass Christmas tree ornament.
That I have never used on the Christmas tree…
It’s pretty, though. And shiny!

Lines.
And spirals.
A composition of contentment.
๐Ÿ™‚

And to finish –

Good night!
And joy be to you all.

It Followed Me Home!

The rainbow, that is ๐Ÿ˜€

After a cold, blustery day, we went to do the weekly shop.
This was the view when we got to the car.

And when we got home…

โค

It’s hardly surprising, since we’re only minutes down the road.

Kermit sang of songs about rainbows.
I’m not sure there are as many about them as he thought…

But here’s one.

There is also poetry.

The Rain-bow
-by Thomas Love Peacock

The day has passโ€™d in storms, though not unmixโ€™d
With transitory calm. The western clouds,
Dissolving slow, unveil the glorious sun,
Majestic in decline. The watโ€™ry east
Glows with the many-tinted arch of Heavโ€™n.
We hail it as a pledge that brighter skies
Shall bless the coming morn. Thus rolls the day,
The short dark day of life; with tempests thus,
And fleeting sun-shine chequerโ€™d. At its close,
When the dread hour draws near, that bursts all ties,
All commerce with the world, Religion pours
Hopeโ€™s fairy-colors on the virtuous mind,
And, like the rain-bow on the evโ€™ning clouds,
Gives the bright promise that a happier dawn
Shall chase the night and silence of the grave.

**********

…and one more ๐Ÿ™‚

“Still will I harvest beauty where it grows”
by Edna St. Vincent Millay

Still will I harvest beauty where it grows:
In coloured fungus and the spotted fog
Surprised on foods forgotten; in ditch and bog
Filmed brilliant with irregular rainbows
Of rust and oil, where half a city throws
Its empty tins; and in some spongy log
Whence headlong leaps the oozy emerald frog. . . .
And a black pupil in the green scum shows.
Her the inhabiter of divers places
Surmising at all doors, I push them all.
Oh, you that fearful of a creaking hinge
Turn back forevermore with craven faces,
I tell you Beauty bears an ultra fringe
Unguessed of you upon her gossamer shawl!

**********

May you wake to a clear sky!

A Solid Cup Of Coffee

Went in to town early this morning to get a blood test (nothing major – just a “let’s have a look” type of thing ๐Ÿ™‚ )
I had a couple of hours before another appointment, so had a leisurely cappuccino.

I do like coffee.
I’m not really a connoisseur, though.
I couldn’t tell you what makes a really good cuppa.
Just whether I’m enjoying it or not…

I recently treated myself to some coffee sweets. They’re something I used to have years ago, but haven’t really seen lately.
Lovely and sweet.
Not sure how much caffeine each one has, but probably shouldn’t have too many at once!

I also indulged in another packet of sweets. They were also a bit of a nostalgic choice.
I just didn’t realise the combination until later.

๐Ÿ˜€

They’re completely different textures, so I experimented to get the best blend.
Seems to be crunching the coffee sweet a bit first, then adding a milk bottle.
Just right…

Maybe I should open a cafe!

Unicorn Weather!

At least, it was this morning ๐Ÿ˜€

I thought I wouldn’t have the chance to wear my unicorn onesie this winter.
As it was, the cold didn’t last past middish morning…

Oh well.
Maybe tomorrow!
