Patrick Stewart has died.
In the same week as Walter Koenig – the crew of the Enterprise is getting far too small.
When The Next Generation came along, I resisted watching it for a while – I couldn’t see how it could be better than the original series. I did eventually give it a try, and Picard became my favourite Enterprise captain.
Others have given better eulogies for him, and of course he had other roles, over a long career.
I still think of Patrick as Picard.
And in listening to a range of his speeches, I am struck by how many still seem applicable to today.
I didn’t quite have the correct tea in the pantry.
But I raised a cup of tea in his honour tonight.
– Tea. (Lady) Grey. Hot.
Farewell, Mon Capitaine.
