A Sudden Blossoming

In my head, I know it’s spring…
When I stop to assess the weather and temperature, I’m not as sure.

There have been pleasant mornings – that crisp, cool spring feeling to wake up to. There have also been cold mornings, and afternoons that are so hot I’ve been tempted to put the air conditioner on.
Regardless of all this, the garden has quietly decided to fling forth flowers, in various types and sizes. My garden beds have started to look more colourful. Even the succulents are flowering!

At the front, the little plants are coming alive again. This has been helped by my finally tying up the lavender so it doesn’t suffocate them…

The little bright, happy flowers (whose names I can’t remember…) were just budding in the morning

but had fully opened by the afternoon. They do change throughout the day, though.

More red flowers in the back garden – again, no idea what they are. I’d even forgotten they were there, until they decided to make their presence known 🙂

My lavender is flowering beautifully, for the first time, I think. The rosemary also has lovely pale blue flowers.

Here’s where at least some of my lavender ended up. It smells better as it dries.

So there you go.
Spring snuck up on me!

One more photo, taken a few weeks ago now.
More like summer – colours, dry look about it, the fact it’s a weed (it’s been pulled out now). This is outside a shop we go to. I liked the composition, took a chance and took the photo…

I hope there are flowers coming to life around you, even if they have to break through dry, hard ground to grow…

All The Little Birdies Sing!

At least they’re starting to…
We’re on the last day of winter, and what a non-winter it’s been! A few cold nights and blustery days, but the trees and birds seem to have been a bit confused for the last month or so.
About four weeks ago I took some photos at a friend’s place, and have taken some more at intervals…

Waiting to open; complete with teeny-tiny spider!

Some type of nectarine blossom, I believe – looking happy!

A couple of weeks later – sunflower with bee 🙂

The latest phase – waiting for the seeds.

…and baby offshoots, with native bees.

A promise of more fruit.

The magpies and plovers seem to have been nesting, and we came across the first half a hatched egg yesterday while walking. Spring seems to have well and truly sprung.
Will tomorrow’s sun rise more brightly with the official advent of spring? Probably not. But the warmer days are coming!

Singing In The Spring

The days are getting warmer and the evenings longer. The birds are singing, flowers fling sweet scent into the air, and the skies are bright with blue surrounded banked clouds.

Spring is sweeping out the winter, ready for new ventures…

We were privileged today to watch four baptisms – each with different stories, each signifying a new beginning. One of the words spoken was about animals hibernating, but waking in the spring – every year a new spring…
It’s a time for awakening.
For the possibilities of new directions, fresh understandings. Anything is possible!

Songs for tonight –

The final reading for the service tonight, a promise for whatever is to come.

Isaiah 59:21 – 60:5
 21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the Lord, “from this time forth and forevermore.”

60     Arise, shine, for your light has come,
    and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
    and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
    and his glory will be seen upon you.
And nations shall come to your light,
    and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Lift up your eyes all around, and see;
    they all gather together, they come to you;
your sons shall come from afar,
    and your daughters shall be carried on the hip.
Then you shall see and be radiant;
    your heart shall thrill and exult,
because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,
    the wealth of the nations shall come to you.

Hope Springing

Noticed little flowers springing up in the grass while I was out walking the other day. Even though it was a grey, overcast day these little beauties smiled cheerily at me…

…and these were peeking out from the fences.

Some days are greyer than others, but it brightens the heart to be greeted by colour and joy in unexpected places!

To add to that, I was also gifted with some Australian flowers from a friend’s farm – joy all round 😉
