A Visitor, A Little Hat, And Some Sweet Sour Tea

The days are settling into a bit more heat now, and I am catching wafts of Christmas breeze.
This may be partially because we’ve started tiptoeing into “end-of-year” things, but I have also just suddenly tipped into vague excitement. Not sure why. We haven’t even got the tree up yet!
I’m feeling tired, after a few of the afore-mentioned “e-o-y” get-togethers.
Missing the cool rain, these last couple of days!
…as had my unexpected visitor.

Must have crept in during the last rain.
I was checking my pots, and got a bit of a fright.
Had a look today though – no frog. That pot would have been a bit too hot today, I suppose.

I got myself a new mug.
Chunky, floral, and still good to perch a unicorn on!

Happily providing my dandelion coffee 🙂

It also looks sweet with its little “hat”.

I realised a while ago that I don’t tend to drink enough, and that the advent of summer would be a good time for drinking more.
This was a portion of my liquid intake today (I prepare the herbal teas and let them draw for a while)

Coffee, of course.
The herbal teas are mint, and hibiscus.
The collagen powder was a freebie from Market Organics (someone ordered too much, in the wrong size). It’s not something I would usually buy, but I thought I’d give it a try. Supposed to be berry flavoured, I think. It tastes a bit like slightly weak, liquid jelly. Not sure what it’s doing for my health yet.
The mint tea is nice – refreshing, with that little chill in the aftertaste.
The hibiscus tea… I like it. It certainly seems to have health benefits I need. It does have a slight hint of sweetness, but overall is fairly sour (tart?). I don’t mind that – it’s quite refreshing as well. Sort of a fruity taste?
It’s definitely pretty!

The tea it makes is a deep, dark pink.
Almost Christmassy!
🙂

I will do my best to keep hydrated this summer.
And stay excited for Christmas.
Only 11 more days until I put the tree up!
😀

Sage Thoughts And Planted Bulbs

Today has been a busy day.
Due to various circumstances, I spent part of the morning picking up groceries that we hadn’t had time or opportunity to get to before. For me this means buses and walking, which was quite nice this morning, in the fog.
I started off early, having breakfast in my favourite cafe – I was the only one there for a time 🙂
It was like sitting in my own lounge/dining room, except with more chairs…

Off on the bus to Market Organics after that, then wandering back to town – bits of shopping, library, then the bus home. Everybody seemed chatty today – people I knew, people I didn’t… there’s always time for kindness, whether given or received.

I finally got the bulbs in the ground the other day, where they will sleep their winter sleep and hopefully emerge in spring, looking like this (but less cardboard-y)

The sage is now safely gathered in – past its best, but quite abundant.
I’d previously frozen the basil in olive oil, and yesterday chopped half the sage into olive oil to freeze as well. The rest of the sage went into honey to steep for a few weeks, when it will be ready for sore throats and medicinal tea.

Tired now, but happy!
I think tomorrow will be a quiet day at home…

Mocha For A Dreaming Day

Another coffee post! 😀
I’ve been out for coffee a couple of days this week. This afternoon was at Market Organics with my Babe, where we shared cheezecake, talked about our lives at this point and the possible future.

Chocolate/mint not-quite-cheesecake (not sure what it was made of)

Wednesday I had to have a mammogram (just a check up) so decided to go down to Rafter & Rose afterwards. I figured that after being squished and (wo)manhandled, a mocha and gluten free muffin was not too much to ask for!

The reminder over my table 😀

…and a bunny to watch over me.

My little nook (and muffin – the mocha came later) It was quiet and I was able to drift into dreaming for a while, and have a bit of prayer time. Sometimes the world overwhelms, and it takes an effort to remember to enjoy the quiet places…

I’ve also been discovering new songs this week. Here’s a new favourite.

Looking forward to the weekend…
All I have left to say is –
