All At Sea

It’s been a good few days.
Got things done.
Felt OK.
Maybe the heat helps a bit (although, not too much heat!) I’ve washed the quilts and changed the sheets.
Tweaked the garden a teensy bit, and tidied up some things that have been annoying me.
Even been out of the house a few times…
I spent more time out today than I expected to, so even though it’s nice to have the ability to wander, I’m very tired now. When I’m tired, I don’t think quite as fast or as well as I’d like.
So – no words of wisdom here.
Just an easy to like sea shanty medley.

Live, and a cappella.
Although Adam seems to be having fun with a looper back there…
This was originally released during lockdown, where each member of Home Free recorded their bits at home and put them together for the full clip. Worth a listen as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe you’re after some nostalgia?

Or maybe you just need a lullaby?

That’s the Hound + the Fox, with Tim from Home Free taking a guest role.

Hopefully a good night’s sleep will bring a more combobulated tomorrow…

Back Online!

We’re back to our “proper” internet connection – yay!
It’s been somewhere over a month since all this started, but hopefully we’ll be ok now. Still not sure what’s been going on with the connection…
We were given a temporary modem (and then another one), so that’s kept us going. I’ve never used so much phone data before – even had a 2GB warning! The modems worked, but are not too good – there have been some things we haven’t been able to do in the last month. I’ve had to be careful with watching catch up TV as well – that seems to use a lot.

It’s been nice to have the rain the last two days. This house seems built to enhance cosiness in wet weather ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve been watching the new episodes of Midsomer Murders, and indulging in catching up with other random shows – we can’t seem to get free to air TV here, so even with internet back on, there’s nothing for Fetch to record…

I’ve also been watching a lot of YouTube. Home Free just did this song – it came out last weekend.

I love all their songs, but this is one I remember from childhood.
This was the first song on the first cassette tape that I bought with my own pocket money, way back sometime in the 70s. It was a “Country Greatest Hits” type album – I think it also had Dolly Parton singing “I Will Always Love You”.
…a bit of nostalgia to herald in the colder, wetter days!

Feeling…

Not sure, really.
Packing’s been going well, aiming to get it all to the new house tomorrow.
I keep thinking that I’ll start to feel sad about leaving here – it was a good place for us when we moved in – but I’m not feeling much of anything at the moment.
I do still feel at home in the new place, though. It’s got its bizarre qualities (the real estate agent said something along the lines of it being difficult to figure it out – there’s always something new/strange ๐Ÿ˜† ). Apparently the rooms downstairs that we’re using for lounge room and an office/studio are listed as bedrooms (they both have “ensuites”, although one doesn’t have a door and the other one has a see through glass door…) Not sure what that makes the bedrooms upstairs! We’ve had a lot of trouble with keys – all, except one, on the bunch we were given don’t seem to work on anything. Fortunately that one opens multiple doors…there are also multiple padlocks on things that don’t have any keys at all. It might be confusing for a while!

Anyway – nearly there!
Getting back to “feeling(s)”…here’s a song I’ve been listening to the last couple of days. Most people will probably recognise the song. I don’t know much about The Bass Gang (except Peter, who has a reaction channel on YouTube that I watch sometimes.) Tim Foust (taking the lead here) is from Home Free, and one of the bassiest basses out there ๐Ÿ˜€
For a bass heavy song, it’s quite high in places…
What’s been funnier for me has been watching some of the reactors I watch reacting blind to the song – they were sent the clip with no information as to the song or guest artist.
Such fun!

Well, I’ll be moving on now – got to get some sleep (sometime).
Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

A Place To Rest

We’ve found a home! ๐Ÿ˜€
(Yes, it’s the place with a spa bath in the corner of the main room ๐Ÿ˜† )
It might have its problems, but then so could anywhere. In the end, we left it up to God to make the decision for us – we figured He knows the future better than we do…
Started packing again today – thankfully it was a bit cooler. We pick up the keys on Friday, but don’t have to move from here for another ten days (we had to give two weeks notice to break the lease). That makes moving a bit more leisurely, but we’ll still need to work to get everything done, cleaned and moved by then. Still, it’s exciting!

It’s also Valentine’s Day today โค
This might set the mood…

We probably won’t be using the spa in the new place (we’ll try to cover it and make a sort of shelf/lounging space), but if we do, I don’t think it’ll be like this ^ ๐Ÿ˜†

So, now we’re moving on, to a place where, hopefully, we can rest!

Yes, I know this doesn’t quite fit (I’ve often thought I would choose it as a funeral song), but have a listen anyway…
At some point I will get photos of the new place to show it off – yay!

The Behemoth Stirs…

Slowly. And frustratingly. At least, though, it got to a vaguely helpful stage.

Don’t mind me – I’ve just had another tussle with Centrelink. A form that was submitted in plenty of time, then sat there not being dealt with, until the reason it was meant to be submitted started causing problems. I left it as long as I could – no-one really wants to phone them – but I had to sort it out. Over an hour waiting, to be told by the person answering that the system was working slowly because of the thousands of people wanting stuff done, and did I think I should be able to go ahead of everyone else?
We Had Words.
Mostly to do with the fact that if they give me a date to submit something, and I do it by that date, then I shouldn’t have to deal with the fallout when they don’t do their jobs. Also that the thousands of other people are not my responsibility, and why should I be hearing about them?
If you think about it, other organisations don’t generally do this…if I put money into my bank account to pay a bill, I don’t expect them to not put it through because they have so many other accounts to deal with as well ๐Ÿ˜† Also – if Centrelink provided systems that do what they’re supposed to do, perhaps they wouldn’t have so many people clogging up the system trying to fix what shouldn’t be broken. Just a thought.
I was told on that call that my form was now submitted. It…wasn’t. No record of it, so I had to go in to the counter to hand it over face to face. At every stage they asked me why I didn’t use the online “service”. ๐Ÿ˜†

Oh well.
It’s done now.

Another slow moving part of our lives has been trying to find a new place to rent. There have been a lot of viewing cancellations and disappointments at not being chosen for places we liked. We looked at a place this morning, and have put in an application. It’s a bit weird (the room that would be our bedroom has a spa bath in the corner), but maybe weird suits us at this stage of our lives…

Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough.
Yesterday I was feeling a bit blue. Music tends to cheer me up!

Dreaming Into A New Dawn

Once more we are standing on the brink of a new year, and it’s all about goal setting and sorting “it” all out.
Of course, it’s really just another day – there’s no magic reset button, and last year’s problems don’t just disappear…

It is a chance, though, to take the time to reassess and rearrange, and to jump into the year feeling like you have a fresh new start!

I feel like last year had a lot of interruptions and false starts. I don’t really know what tomorrow will bring. I can only plan my course, and see what happens.
One of my Christmas presents was a bundle of virtual challenges, where you get to choose how to complete the challenges, and get a medal at the end of it ๐Ÿ™‚ Some will be for physical activity – I need to get back to regular walking – but some will be for various creative activities. The 2023 medal will be for the same activity as the 2022 medal. It keeps me on a regular Bible reading schedule – one chapter = one kilometre.

I saw some fireworks from our windows, but we’re not planning to formally welcome in the new year. I hope you’ve had a good evening, however you are spending it!
Here’s a more traditional new year song…

…and a song to muse on and be inspired by.

I hope your new year brings you dreams to walk in, and hope fulfilled.

Waiting To Arise

Still a bit down.
Ever had those times when everything just seems to go wrong – not in any way that’s easily fixable, just…not right?
We’ve had different things in different spheres go a bit awry in some way or another lately. You end up questioning if you’ve turned the wrong corner somewhere and are somehow lost on the wrong road out of town…
Turned up to look at a place today. Seems we got the wrong day, which would explain why nobody else was there. ๐Ÿ˜† Two more viewings tomorrow. We talked to a neighbour who has just moved from this complex. She was saying that they paid the money on the app the agents use to apply for places. It says that the fee is not compulsory (and technically it isn’t), but you seem to have to pay it to get anywhere – we have four stars out of a possible five star rating as tenants. Paying the fee (for some sort of “verification”?) would get us the last star. It’s for each adult on the application, though, which means at least $80 all up for us, probably $120 to be sure.
Still, I’ve been packing a bit more. Looking at listings each day. Listening to YouTube to cheer me up ๐Ÿ™‚
Here’s a couple of songs I’ve been enjoying lately.
The first one is from an album I’ve just bought, although it’s coming to me from the U.S. so I’m not sure when it’ll get here.

…and this one is an a capella version of one of my favourite Beatles songs.

I’m going to listen to some more music before reading a bit, then bed.
After all…tomorrow is another day, and another chance to arise. And shine.

Stilling…

Unfortunately, we didn’t get the house we liked, even though our application got through some of the stages. We’ve heard that there are apparently too many applications of a high standard for each rental, so someone has to miss out ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
I was quite disappointed when we heard yesterday, but at least we can look at more listings – we’re going to see a place on Saturday. I’m just at the stage where I want to be moved and done, certainly before it starts getting too hot. We’re sort of partially packed, with boxes in odd places.
When I’m feeling a bit blah, good music helps to calm me.
Today was a bit more like this…

๐Ÿ™‚
I’d still like to be settling into a new place, though.

The rain today has made me think of this song – I’ll have to get the album!

Love For The Fur Babies

โค
It’s been a while since I’ve posted…
We’re going to be moving in the next few months, so my energy has been directed towards packing.

Still, there’s always time for music!
This premiered early this morning (Australian time).
Enjoy!

Roll On

Sometimes the world seems a little…too much.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget our roles in life – the possibilities we have of making the world a little better.
…and sometimes we could do with being reminded that we’re not helpless, with nothing to say!

Brings to mind some verses –

“But let justice roll down like waters,
ย ย ย ย and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”

Amos 5:24

And one of my favourites –
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
ย ย ย ย And what does theย Lordย require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
ย ย ย ย and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8

And if you still need cheering up, here’s one that came out today.
