Back To The Keys

We’re back online, after over a week off – trouble with cables (or something…)
I’ve had a much better week than the last week, although still with its downs. Got to go out more than usual – cafe, cinema, even twice to the library! πŸ™‚
Saw this on our way for coffee – looks great, and hopefully the first of many?

It’s the Ipswich Festival at the moment, so we went to the Global Fiesta… ended up pouring rain on our way out, but glad we got there. We didn’t hear much of the music (saw the tail end of the morris dancers’ set as we came in – that was fun) but I got my hand hennaed.

Here’s the “before”. It got a bit wet, and blurred in places.
Here’s the “after”

I’m hoping it will darken overnight.
If it’s not raining tomorrow, we’ll go to the Jazz, Wine and Blues in the afternoon/evening…

It’s nice to be back! πŸ™‚

Leaving Space For The Whimsy

Clinical practice days are coming up this week… I don’t feel I know anything, even though I’ve been going through my notes and textbooks, putting information together. The temptation is to cram every little thing in as much space as possible, but I think I still need to come up for air!
This last week has not been a good one for pain, which makes study (and especially remembering) difficult. Today has been a bit better – prayed for at church, and I’ve definitely felt better this afternoon. Unfortunately that doesn’t equate to “pain-free”, but I haven’t had to take a tablet yet. This is a win, in my life at the moment. πŸ™‚
There’s a site I’ve been using for free images, so I just typed in things like “whimsy”, “imagine” and “dream”, and picked some that stood out to me.

Here they are!

Taking A Deep Breath

It’s the beginning of the second week of term 2, and it’s been a good day!
The first week back is always stressful (at least the first days…), but we tend to settle down when we start to understand what we’re doing for the term. It’s taken a bit longer this time.
Today started off badly, and could have gotten worse. I spent last week trying to finish a subject from my course, so spent less time with Littlest Bean and his work than he needed – a recipe for stress! Today, I decided that I could concentrate on his work, so we spent this morning snuggling, talking through the questions for the day (and some for the week), taking the stress out of the day. Usually he settles in to his work within the week and then works well with minimal supervision. This term’s been a bit different…
It was so lovely spending the time together today! Both my boys have been growing so fast, and we don’t spend so much one-on-one time. Today was like a breath of fresh air – a sweet time with my Sweet Bean ❀

I’ve still had time to get some work done, but took some time to continue the “taking a breath” part of the day. Had a lovely soak in the bath this afternoon, with a scented candle and a good book. Here’s my book, warm socks and a snuggly dressing gown to keep warm πŸ™‚

And Then The World Changed…

An Easter Carol
(Christina Rossetti)

Spring bursts to-day,
For Christ is risen and all the earth’s at play.

Flash forth, thou Sun,
The rain is over and gone, its work is done.

Winter is past,
Sweet Spring is come at last, is come at last.

Bud, Fig and Vine,
Bud, Olive, fat with fruit and oil and wine.

Break forth this morn
In roses, thou but yesterday a Thorn.

Uplift thy head,
O pure white Lily through the Winter dead.

Beside your dams
Leap and rejoice, you merry-making Lambs.

All Herds and Flocks
Rejoice, all Beasts of thickets and of rocks.

Sing, Creatures, sing,
Angels and Men and Birds and everything.

All notes of Doves
Fill all our world: this is the time of loves.

The Big Picture

doorway-981803_1920

Creator

Jesus, Jesus,
Carpenter of Nazareth,
Can you make a lintel?
Can you make a door?

Jesus, Jesus,
Carpenter of Nazareth,
Can you make a universe
Where there was none before?

Jesus, Jesus,
Carpenter of Nazareth,
Living in the midst of us,
A working man and poor,

How shall we esteem you,
Holy, humble carpenter?
By the universe you made –
And also by the door.

Waiting In The Silence

Indeed!

I’ve just got internet back after two weeks, with nearly a week without TV, as well. We lost signals after some storms here (no landline either), and it’s taken this long to fix. On the one hand, I’ve had more time to catch up on non-internet stuff, which is nice… that’s mixed with a bit of stress over not being able to finish assessments – I can only get so far with them before needing my online resources.
One of the effects of this much time offline (apart fromΒ lotsΒ of reading! πŸ™‚ ) is having to wade through all the accumulated emails…
I seem to have had a preponderance of posts/articles/devotionals on freedom, Wild Faith, and a bit about pain and suffering.
Something to think about…

Chill…

Nearly end of term! It’s been disjointed and almost as though it would never end well, but we’re nearly on holidays again (yay!). Sweet Bean had his work looked at today – he’s doing well… lots better than he thought he was!
We’ve had ructions these last few weeks… who thought it would be a good idea to combine an early teen boy and a not-far-off-50 Mum in the same household? Fireworks have been let off at fairly regular intervals lately, followed by a feeling of exhaustion. Consequently, I’ve just done the bare minimum of study this afternoon, and have been enjoying chilling out tonight. I’ll be catching up on “Angel” and then reading a bit this evening… πŸ™‚

We’ve needed a lot of grace, and love, around here lately.

Daily reminders! πŸ™‚

It’s a good life…
and a good family.
This evening is a good time to take a deep breath, turn the heat down for the weekend, and get ready to jump back into the fray…

Just to finish off – here’s today’s heart – fresh from the cupcake place.

Just Another Day…

…and yet – not!
Today my biggest boy turned 18.
Yesterday we went to Sizzler for lunch, to celebrate.

IMG_1566

I only go for the cheesy toast! πŸ™‚

We spent time together eating, talking, and enjoying each other’s company… a beautiful end to the week.
Today he was off all day with friends…

The wild, wide world beckons – what adventure awaits?!
