Pre-Valentines Day!

Guess what Hubby brought home today? Yum! 😀

He dropped in to Di..licious down the road, where the specialty is cupcakes. This is a full sized one, although not as big as it probably looks – that’s a teensy little saucer that I found somewhere ages ago.. I don’t get to use it often..

This is the box it came in… and this is what was also in the box 😀

I’m thinking that’s a brownie, and a bite size Lemon..licious cupcake. I’ll know when we eat them.. the big one was coconut ice.

Tomorrow is another day..
I have a nice dessert planned, and we’ll have steak for dinner.. I’m off for a cuppa and cupcakes!

Balance

100_1970
Nearly the end of another Sunday…
I’ve been trying to balance my study time with my rest-of-life time. It’s not too bad, but if I’m not careful, I end up reading/taking notes pretty much every waking moment – which are more than they should be, because I stay up longer. I haven’t studied for many years, so I’m still finding my parameters..

One thing I’ve decided is that I’m taking Sundays off. It’s hard to switch my brain off.. but I’ve managed.. except I’ve been finding I seem to be working just as hard to “relax”! When there’s only one day to fit the leisure stuff in, it seems to go too quickly.. it even feels like a waste of time to sleep, even when I’m so tired it’s hard to focus..

It’ll get better. I’ll find my balance. I’ll probably even go to bed soonish 😀
.. and pretty soon I’ll find a rhythm that encompasses everything that’s necessary..

I went to the Brisbane Lifeline Bookfest yesterday, and picked up a backpack full of books… there’s still time to make it there for a look (although the rain might dampen things a bit..)

There’s something wonderful about reading a good book on a rainy day, with a cup of coffee by your side…

Meeting The Neighbours

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday, meeting the neighbours in our complex – the agents/managers (not sure what they are..) put on a barbeque so we could get to know everyone else.. we have a great neighbourhood! 😀 Stayed talking for most of the afternoon, while the kids went swimming..

We supplied a gingerbread house, which we made with the boys, from a kit given to us by a lovely friend… here it is –

We have been so blessed – with a beautiful house to live in, and neighbours we will enjoy getting to know… this will be a good Christmas season 😀

Sweet Music

Seeing treasure in the trash…
This is a teaser for a full length film – watch, and pass it on! 😀

Gingerbread!

Went to a Women’s event at church last Friday, where we made gingerbread houses… the object seemed to be to see how many sweets we could cram on to one small house. It was lots of fun! The general consensus seemed to be that if your house stayed up, it was a success 😀

Here’s the front – with path. And snow 😀

100_5946The back – a cross and heart… candy canes are so versatile…

Turn On The Lights….

It’s that time of year again!

I waited till December 1st, but now the tree is up and the Christmas decorations are distributed around the house. There’s less space here than I had to work with last year, but I like the new combinations I’ve come up with…

tree

Tree!!
bookshelf snowmen

Last year these were on my treadle sewing machine – that’s got a computer on it at the moment…
I like the bookshelf look..
doorknob heartsSome of the decorations will probably stay up after Christmas..
cupboard lightsI got this string of lights in last year’s sales… they’re battery operated, and I have yet to get some batteries… I think they look OK as they are..
snowmen and globesSnowmen, reindeer, and a bear on top of the world!
tv shelf angelsTV angels… they’ll also stay permanently…
outside ornaments… and here’s the outside display – something pretty to look at while I’m having my morning cup of coffee 😀

How’s your December going?

Out On The Front Verandah..

So we’ve just had our third move in about nine months, with another coming up in two-three weeks… I’m a bit over it 😀 Thankfully, in every place we’ve been, there’s been a verandah, or it’s closest equivalent… Somewhere to take a cup of coffee and talk over the day…
Here is a post in honour of verandahs..

9

It was my sweetest not-so-little bean’s birthday yesterday… he turned nine. How did he get so tall? 😀 We had the birthday party on Saturday at Joseph Brady Park, at Barellan Point… obviously shaping up to be a popular party spot, since we shared the space with three other parties…

We sort of had a plan… I don’t know what happened to it.. The boys played happily on the play equipment, then spent time sliding down the steep hill, then ate, then back to playing. Simple, and fun…

Here’s the hill… you can’t quite see the extent of it.. someone kindly left some cardboard, which was well used… 😀

The largest piece of play equipment. I was wearing a skirt on Saturday, but next time I might wear jeans, and have a go..

Candles can be hard to light when you’re at a windy park by the river.. got there in the end!
*note to self – when making buttercream icing, caster sugar does not equal icing sugar.. adding milk to try and smooth it out may not be the best solution… still tasted good, though!

Happy birthday, Sweet Boy, to whom the whole world consists of friends waiting to be met, and who can’t get himself a biscuit at his party without counting to make sure all his friends will get one as well…. You have a beautiful and loving heart..

…even if you are still a cheeky monkey! 😀
