Having A Laugh

I’ve managed to free up a bit of space in my media library – not sure how many photos I can add, though.
We went out to see the lights last night.
It was a bit early – not yet dark – but still fun!

In fact – joy(ful)!

The entertainment for that part of the evening was…
Elve-is?

๐Ÿ˜€

We didn’t stay very long.
Just a walk up the street to the big tree.
I enjoyed being in the lights and sounds…
having a laugh, with the trees!

Succulence

Or – finding the juiciness in life ๐Ÿ˜€

The car is fixed!
YAY!

We are planning to be out and about in the next few days – there are things we have neglected, and need to get done.
But I have to say – it’s been nice to be stuck at home ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ve enjoyed stillness.
Silence, and thought.
Finding a richness in the enforced at-homeness…

We’ve been on partial storm alert since last weekend’s hail.
The blinds have been down a lot, and towels within easy reach.
The rain has been of the soaking kind, not the flooding variety ๐Ÿ™‚

This was our sunset last night.

We put the pot plants in the shed on Saturday. Just in case.
I just got them out this arvo, and – I don’t know whether it’s the heat, or the humidity, but they’ve sprouted a bit. One has thrown out thin tendrils with tiny flowers, from all angles.

Unassuming beauty…

This lovely house-warming plant is contemplating blooming again, after getting a bit battered in the storms.

โค

And the frangipanis are sending out new bright greenness.

I’m not even sure, anymore, what’s growing in this pot!

I think it started with the aloe vera, but other plants have moved in.

We’ve been in this house just on three months now.
We’re breathing in. Stretching out. And finding the succulence in this life…

…as are my pot plants!

Chai, Mint, And A (Passably) Good Day

Really, it has been a good day.
Just still dealing with that post viral fatigue.
The kind that feels like trudging through sludge. In lead shoes…

But I got housework done!
It’s always hard to start the little cleaning/washing/organising jobs around the house, but I usually feel happier when I can see the finish line. And it’s lovely to have clean things around me.

Today, I thought I’d celebrate my Monday with a big mug of chai (and vanilla) tea, with crushed mint leaves from the garden (steeped in the tea, overseen by my happy unicorn tea ball ๐Ÿ™‚ ), and enhanced with a splodge of honey.

Sweet!

Fire In The Sky

The week has been getting better each day, and I have been getting more done. My boys seem to be brighter and happier as well! โค
I’m trying not to fall into relapse like last week, so there have been some quick darts out into the world, and some snoozing under the covers…

While I’ve been recovering from the Nameless Virus the cactus under the stairs has been…budding?

I’m not sure if those will become flowers?

Last night I figured out night mode on my phone camera. I think.

You have to hold it very still, but outlines seem a lot crisper.

The cold nights have seen colourful sunsets.

…and the daytime cloud formations have sparkled with sunlight.

But tonight!
Fire in the sky,
as the cold night fell.

Exiting The Mould

I had started to wonder what happened to autumn.
The last couple of days have been pleasingly chilly, though, so we’ll see how winter comes in ๐Ÿ˜€

I had a full weekend, and enjoyed it immensely. Made it to church, after two weeks of being unable to go, and it was well worth it. I even got to pick up the Mothers’ Day gift that was given out the first weekend I was sick ๐Ÿ™‚

A tiny little succulent โค , guarded by Nightmare Kitty ๐Ÿ™‚

It felt like I had turned a corner, and life would rev up into (my version of) reality. Unfortunately, I’ve tipped back into coughing tiredness. Not sure whether it’s the weather. I’ve had a roaming sore throat (first one side, then the other…then none…and back to one side or both). At this stage it’s mostly annoying rather than anything else, but still wearing.
Poor Sweet Bean is still not good ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Today we had some areas of mould in the house cleaned professionally, which meant we had to be out of the house for most of the afternoon.
Biggest Boy stayed, and spent the afternoon sitting in the fresh air in the garden. It seems to have done him good. The rest of us went to the library for the duration, except for Sweet Bean, who stayed in his pyjamas and slept in the car with his duvet and pillow.

It was a long afternoon.
But worth it.
We hadn’t realised the ceiling in the sunroom was actually white!

There was a strong smell of chlorine (or bleach?) in the house when we got back, so we had the windows open and fans on until we got too cold.
At least tomorrow is looking like a quieter day…

We were out yesterday morning (part of my getting-back-to-normal-routine), so that added to the fatigue.
But I got a hot chocolate out of it.

With marshmallows!

Snuggled In The Corner Chair

It was probably only a few days ago when the days decided to tip over into winter.
It’s been SO COLD!!
Comparatively.
And really, only in the mornings. Late afternoons. Nights.

I like this time of year. It’s sort of crispy clear, and good for snuggling in to warm duvets, and unicorn slippers. I even did a bit of a “spring” makeover – washed the sheets, which dried quickly in the breezy cold.

A beautiful sight!

I chose the blue skies duvet cover for me, to remember the hot sunshine by.

I have also (finally) been using my art room – something I hadn’t been able to get together in the last couple of places we’ve lived in.

My desk.
Where I’m actually doing some work!

And here’s my corner(ish) chair, snuggled in its little spot, and so far still warm during the day. It’s for reading, and writing (definitely no ‘rithmetic!)
I hadn’t realised there was so much colour around it…

Rainbows, and hearts, and toes about to become toasty warm!

I am tired right now – it was a big day of cleaning and washing – but I feel like I’ve been able to do more lately. Even though I lose energy over the day, it feels like I’m starting from a higher point. It’s lovely to be able to actually do something!
Having a bit more strength in the day is great, and there are times when I feel like a child again.

Not quite to this level of activity, though.
Everything else in the song is possible ๐Ÿ™‚

This world may be crazy.
But it is beautiful.

The Sun Shares Its Warmth Again

I don’t know what winter thinks it’s doing.

We started with cold, shivery mornings. Some still are, but mostly it’s been that lovely crisp chill that’s energising but not too cold.
I’m not complaining ๐Ÿ™‚
There’s been rain as well, and then everything seems grey and somehow colder. It’s good to catch the sunshine when it peeks out from behind the clouds…

I’ve been organising.
We finally got the boxes out from under the stairs, and I’ve rediscovered things I forgot that I had. I’ve unpacked the last cardboard box from upstairs, so the rooms feel a bit more finished, even if there’s still a lot more to do! I spent this afternoon finding homes for my CDs, while playing some I haven’t heard in a while. That, obviously, led to sorting my (upstairs) books. I’ve spent a lovely afternoon pottering about between various shelves, trying to make sense out of it all ๐Ÿ˜†

…and through it all, the sun has been shining.
It’s been a good temperature to go for a walk down the street, or just lean on the railings and watch the world go by.
Sometimes I get caught up in the day and only notice it’s getting late when I see the sun setting outside my coloured glass windows.

Then I can settle again into my beautiful home, and reflect on the sun, and the warmth in my life.

Two Old Ladies In An Ice Cream Parlour…

Still not feeling on top of the world, but also not like I’ve been hit by a truck. Maybe a glancing blow… ๐Ÿ˜†
I went into town the other day – the first time in a while. Meant to get to my favourite cafe, but ran into my Mum before I got there. We went across to the new ice cream parlour/cafe in town for a catch up.
You never know who you’re going to meet in the “big” city! ๐Ÿ˜€
I hadn’t had my breakfast yet, so felt it was a bit early for ice cream, but I enjoyed my coffee!
These days I trundle around town with my old lady trolley. We both parked ours by the table while we talked.

It was a nice little interlude, in a nice little place.

A lovely retro vibe…

…and not just ice cream! (There’s burgers, too.)

I eventually got to the library, where I checked out some books, and the newest of the little plasticine figures one of the librarians makes.
There’s a cute little penguin family.

There’s also a (hopefully) friendly orca.

I think I overdid it a bit – it was so nice to be out and about. I’m taking it easy again… at least I have a good stack of books to keep me company!

Crisp And Cool…

The air conditioner’s on, the sheets are freshly changed, and I’ve done my heavy cleaning for the inspection on Monday.
You know that feeling when you’ve been dreading something, but you’ve finally done that something, and you feel all light and giddy with achievement? That’s me right now ๐Ÿ˜€
Also – chilled and comfy!

Still have the pressies to wrap, but that can be a fun thing for later.
There’s been a fair few “must do” things lately, but I still found time for a sit down in front of the Christmas tree the other day, with a mug of gingerbread milk and an Elf DVD.

Also, a cup of mocha and a muffin, before doing some Christmas shopping. It’s been a bit harder without a car, so I needed my caffeine…
Here’s my little nook in the cafe.

Here are the forest friends that shared the space with me…

I’m looking forward to a peaceful evening. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you are too!
Maybe this will help…
not specifically a Christmas song, but something to reflect on.

Organising My Life In Colour

Just before lockdown I was able to get my bedside table(s) sorted out! ๐Ÿ™‚
It’s different to what I originally had in my mind, but I’m happy with it. I’d bought and put together the trolley with the multicoloured draws from Officeworks, but hadn’t been able to find anything to put my lamp (and coffee) on.
Finally found something and put it all together.
Yay!

There’s still more to organise to get it just right, but I have a lot of my creative supplies in one place. It’s close enough to reach out to from the bed, so that’s easier for the bad days. I can set up quite comfortably and quickly.
And now I’ve got a CD player as well. MP3s take up less space, but I like the idea of setting up my CDs, one after the other. Maybe even dancing, if I’m feeling up to it!

Here’s my new space…

Just enough room for my coffee – I’m still trying to fit everything together…

The days are getting warmer (even though it’s too early), but it’s still nice to snuggle in to bed to do my work.
The flowers are growing before their time, so we’ll see what happens to them, but it means my lavender is finally blooming.
