Unexpected Love

100_6281

I know You love me
All the time
Your heart has told me
Through Your words.
I hold them close
To comfort me
But sometimes, still,
You catch my eye –
The curtain lifts –
Eternity.

In random places,
Signs, and times,
When disappointments
Crush me down..
You send me hearts –
A glimpse, but clear,
In everyday,
In every need.

Coincidence, some say –
And yet
I know You’ve
Put Your heart in mine.

Reflections On A Future Past

Our local Gallery has a Steampunk exhibition on at the moment. I’m not sure how much longer it’s on for, so thought I’d check it out while I can.

I like what I’ve seen of steampunk… I’d happily wear most of what I’ve seen (especially the boots. The boots are cool.) I’ve done steampunk themed ATCs before, but I’m still not sure what to do with it. It can be called “the greatest era that never was”, and encompasses modern technology, but set in the Victorian era. I like the way it looks.. except when I try it. Then it just looks.. weird..

Just have to keep on trying..

Here’s some other people’s interpretations..

butterfly steampunk

Butterflies and birdcages!

inline skate

The first inline skate?

dials

…something with dials..

gun

A sort of ray gun..

i-pod case

I-pod case.

phone

…and phone.

mirror

steamship

A skeleton steamship.

steambubbles

time machine and tea bag jiggler

A time machine and a teabag jiggler..

winged heart

A winged heart (called newromancer)

helmet

… and a winged helmet.

I’m planning to go to a masked tea party in May, and I’d like to do something like this… we shall see 😀

Quilled Paper Anatomy

Wow! This could make studies more interesting…

I can’t imagine the time this would take… it takes me long enough to write out notes!

Seeing treasure in the trash…
This is a teaser for a full length film – watch, and pass it on! 😀

Action!

Hello, all! 😀
Here’s a quick post to show off my biggest boy’s creativity… he loves doing stop motion animation, and can spend hours on it..
This one is not one of his longest (and it uses some video recording as well) but it’s for a competition he’s entered…
Enjoy! 😀

I Felt Like Writing This Post…

Sorry.
Not feeling well today.
A pun seemed the best solution….

Here’s the photos of our felt making workshop a couple of days ago… the process seemed quite simple, but still a lot of work (lots of rolling/agitating). I like the results – there’s a lot of potential there 😀

This was Biggest Boy’s piece –

He mumbled and grumbled before we started, then decided he’d “messed it up”… I thought it turned out well..
..as one of the instructors said, “In felting, there’s no mistakes – just opportunities!”

Littlest Bean had a great time!

He wanted to include Blue Bear on his piece, so it was an experiment for all concerned..
(Blue Bear was very excited to be immortalised in felt..)

I wanted hearts and flowers on mine.. it sort of worked.. lots of lovely colours, though! 😀

Weaving

On Sunday afternoon there was a free workshop in town, so of course we were there 😀 It was basic weaving, with branches and vines… we did wreaths, but I saw others with big branches, weaving wool and fibres between the branches. It’s interesting to try some new skills, and we can expand on them later…

This was Littlest Bean’s.. he made the basic wreath, with a tree woven into the middle…

Biggest Boy made three wreaths, interwoven together… each is made woven through the other – he only twisted the sides together for stability..

This is mine.. I kept finding bits of wool that were so lovely, I wanted to use them somehow… it’s a sort of “tree in grass with a cloudy/overcast sky, with the sun shining through”…

We did felt making today… will post on that later! 😀

Dash

Littlest Bean went to a fancy dress party on Saturday. It was Disney themed, and he chose Dash from The Incredibles… we had to rustle up a costume that would withstand at least a bit of running around. It’s amazing what you can achieve with scraps of material, thread and a bit of glue 😀

Here’s our Superboy…

… and the action shots…

We used a pair of his pyjamas, which had to be turned inside out to hide the tags/images (they were Batman pyjamas) but I think it worked OK..

In the end, I went on a ramble round the block, taking random photos as I went… nothing too fancy, just what cught my eye.

Here they are.. 😀
