Adding To The Stash.
Went down to Crafty today, to check out their closing down sale. They’re closing on Thursday, and will then be online (the address will be http://www.crafty.com.au, I believe – I haven’t linked it because it’s not active at the moment)
If you like scrapbooking stuff, check them out (down at Wharf St) 😀 I wasn’t going to buy anything (too much of a luxury at the moment), but the ribbons were 75% off, and my stash is getting low…. got the ribbons below (9 metres!) for less than $5.00!

Night Out
Went with my little bean to his kids’ group (it was Mum’s night). We played games, and made different things. He painted me a garden stake in the shape of a heart (because I love hearts), and a cute little dragonfly magnet, made from paddle pop sticks and sequins 😀
We also made some little sweet things, which were very, very cute 😀 I thought I’d share them with you, in case you have any kid’s birthday parties coming up…. (I would have taken photos if they’d lasted longer than supper…)
Teacup Biscuits
Need – 1 round biscuit (we had hundreds and thousands biscuits)
1 marshmallow
1 chocolate freckle
Half a lifesaver
small quantity of icing, to use as paste.
First, place the biscuit pretty side up. Use the icing to stick the marshmallow to the biscuit, then icing again to stick the chocolate freckle to the top of the marshmallow. Stick the half lifesaver to the side of the marshmallow, and – voila! – a cute little teacup! Repeat as necessary until everyone has a cuppa 😀
Teddy Cars
Need – 1 snack size Snickers or Mars Bar
1 Tiny Teddy biscuit
4 M&Ms
Chocolate icing as paste
Take the Snickers or Mars Bar, and cut a little slit across the top of the bar, and a little towards one end. Push the Tiny Teddy biscuit into the slit, so it looks like it’s driving a car. Use the icing to stick the M&Ms to the sides of the bar, to represent wheels.
These are so cute! We’ve decided to do them for littlest bean’s birthday party later on in the year 😀

Atcs
Here’s the pics of the Atcs (Artist Trading Cards) I made recently…. had to wait till they were posted up elsewhere 😀
These are my Steampunk cards… I think a bit light on the “punk”…. I had loads of ideas for these, but nothing seemed to gel into “steampunk mode”. In the end I got all my bits and pieces and decided to just do something with them……

The surrounds for some of the watches are changeable covers from an old watch set I had, and some of the watches have real hands from old watches.
These are my Freestyle cards (Which means I could choose anything I wanted to ). I’ve never made a quilt before, and sewing’s not one of my fortes, so these were interesting to do 😀 … They were meant to be little quilts, but they also sort of resemble little pillows…. I think these are my favourites, though!

Deadline met… huge sigh of relief!
I have finally finished the book I was given as part of the Fiction Project …I think their website is being upgraded, so it doesn’t seem to be available, but it’s a sister project to the Sketchbook Project, found here –
Think same sort of thing, just more words….
We just took it down to the Post Office, so it’s on its way…. will collapse on the verandah with a good book and a cup of coffee now… 😀
Update – here’s a couple of photos I took – the first is the cover – the only colourful part of the project, meant to be sort of “fairytale-y”…..
The second is a poem that I put in…. the only one to be incorporated into a design, but I liked it… 😀
A Tepee and Beans….
…and marigolds.
Today we put together a project that I’ve been wanting to do for a while…. we built a tepee, and planted beans around the sticks, so they can climb up…

These are the beans – they eventually become “blue climbing” beans… just right for a healthy snack after a hard day’s play!

The last photos make it look as if we were planting in the dead of night… it’s just that it was getting closer to dusk (5.30ish), and the light wasn’t good enough; I had to use the flash…
They’re supposed to start sprouting in a few days, and will hopefully be edible sometime at the start of winter…
Oil/Water and Fairy Looms
Today we did some simple experiments to check out the properties of water and surface tension –
1. Floating a piece of paper with a needle on top – when the paper sinks, the needle still floats…
2. Oil on water, food colouring through the oil layer into the water….
The boys pronounced it “Cool!” 😀
We went out on a mini nature walk this morning to collect leaves/feathers/bark etc, for fairy looms – I saw them on a blog that I’ve been checking out….(It’s on the March 14th entry – I’m thinking of trying out the geode eggs as well 😀 ) –

…and we’ve been keeping an eye on the tadpoles… they’re still growing… they’re very lively (and hungry) now. You can see where their legs will sprout….
